William Jones, 84, of Danbury, CT died peacefully while surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Bill was born on October 3, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY to Willie and Annie Jones. He spent most of his formative years in Danbury before joining the United States Marine Corps and being honorably discharged in 1963. He married in 1968 and served as a clerk in the US Postal Service for 24 years.

He could be heard singing hymnals, arguing sports and politics with whoever would listen and smiling through it all.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rose (Smith) Jones and their three children: Kimberlee Spencer, Dawn Drew and her husband, Anthony and Alan Jones and his wife, Mia. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Duane Spencer Jr., Ciera Spencer, Amber Drew, Asher, Kaya and Miles Jones, sister in law, Pat Yancey as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister, Wilhelmina Henderson.
A memorial service in celebration of Bill’s life will take place on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM (Noon) at Mount Pleasant AME Zion Church - 69 Rowan Street; Danbury, CT.
