William J. Burns, 79, of South Salem, died peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2024. He was the loving husband of Maureen (Mullen) Burns.
Mr. Burns was born on March 28, 1945 in New York City; a son of the late Robert and Ann (Fitzgerald) Burns.
A resident of South Salem since 1977, Mr. Burns was an entrepreneur. He cherished time spent with his family and dedicated his life to them.
Mr. Burns is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maureen as well as their four children: Karen Wood and her husband, Joseph; Maureen Scordato and her husband, David; William Burns and his wife, Monica; and Brian Burns and his wife, Stephanie Lamb. Mr. Burns is also survived by eight grandchildren: Emily Sullivan, Joseph Wood, Jonathan Wood, Ryan Scordato, Krishen Burns, Leena Burns, Zaara Burns and Thomas Burns; as well as his great grandchildren, Victoria Sullivan, Kate Sullivan McKenzie Sullivan and Joseph Michael Charles Sullivan. In addition, Mr. Burns is survived by his siblings: Ann Quaglino, Mary Maicon, Theresa Calnan, Lorraine Schwab Veronica Caputo and Gerard Burns.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burns was predeceased by his brother, Robert Burns and a great grandson, Joseph Michael Sullivan Jr.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Saint Mary's Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. There will be no calling hours and interment will take place privately.
