Voula Skiadas
1947 -2023
Stavroula “Voula” Skiadas, 75, of Danbury, died on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Glen Hill Center, Danbury.
Voula was born in Sparta, Greece on October 6, 1947, a daughter of the late Thomas K. and Anastasia (Argitakous) Skiadis.
She immigrated to the United States in 1955, settling in New York where she completed her high school education and later Long Island.
Voula was employed by the former F.W. Woolworth 5 & 10 Dept. Store Company at their 34th St.- NYC location. Later, becoming the location manager.
In 1968, she resided in Westport, CT, and assisted her family in their family-owned Shore Points Diner on East Avenue, Norwalk until 1983, when she moved to Miami, FL.
Coming from Miami in 1997, Voula was engaged in food service. She was employed with three area restaurants over the years; Holiday Diner and Three Brothers in Danbury and Exit 10 Diner in Newtown.
She was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Danbury.
She is survived by a sister, Vasiliki “Vaso” Papadakos, a nephew, Thomas Papadakos, a niece Ellena Ruiz and her husband Fabio, and their children Boston and Nikolas. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The Rite of Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury with the Rev. Peter Karloutsos officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Trisagion Prayer Service will be conducted in the funeral home at 6:45 p.m.
