Violet Marie Scala, 93 of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2021. She was the loving wife of the late Mario Scala.
Violet was born in West New York, NJ on June 15, 1927; the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Natoli. Violet attended schools in West New York, NJ and graduated from Drexel College in 1947.
She worked for the World Commerce Corporation in New York City until 1953. Violet and Mario married on April 20, 1952 and moved to Main Street in Ridgefield where they raised their children and worked in the family business, The Elms Inn. Mario was the chef, and Violet, a bookkeeper and a gracious hostess, until 2013. She lived on Main Street for more than 78 years.
Violet enjoyed playing golf, bridge, socializing with friends and loved family gatherings with her extended family. Violet volunteered at RVNA, she was a member of Founders Hall and attended St. Mary’s Church.
Violet is survived by her 3 sons: Stephen Scala and his wife, Judith; Edward Scala and William Scala. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Samantha (Eric), Peter (Meredith), Jennifer (Chris), Anne (Dillon), Brian, Eric, Michael (Sara) and Oliver; 11 great grandchildren: Peter, Jonathan, Timothy, Catherine, Teddy, Sophie, Jacqueline, Michael, Ava, Natalie, and Madelyn as well as a brother, Dr. Richard Natoli of Melville, N.Y.
Due to the COVID 19 restrictions affecting all of us at this time, funeral services will take place privately. The family wishes to thank Regional Hospice for their wonderful care and Atria for their support. Memorial contributions may be made to Regional Hospice of Danbury, Founders Hall or RVNA Health both of Ridgefield. Kane Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
