Valentina “Tina” (Schiano) Schwartz, 62, of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025, surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of Robert “Bob” Schwartz and the loving mother of Melissa Malick, Rebecca Pepe, and Danielle Schwartz. Tina was born on August 25, 1962, in Woodside, NY, a daughter of the late Valentino and Anna (Rubino) Schiano. She was known and loved for her profound kindness, empathy, and generosity.
A resident of Ridgefield since 1989, Tina was the proprietor of VS Office Services – a transcription and secretarial service for architects, doctors, clergy, and entertainment professionals. Tina earned an associate degree from Queensborough College and later returned to school and earned a Certificate in Assistive Technology from the University of California, Davis. She worked for several years with the Ridgefield Board of Education and helped many students with learning and physical disabilities excel in their academic careers.
Tina was a faithful parishioner of Saint Elizabeth Seton Church. She served in various parish roles, including the Women’s Faith Ministry, Flower Committee, Vacation Bible School, and Religious Education, helping to grow and enrich the community of the church.
In her spare time, Tina enjoyed gardening, yoga, tap dancing, going out for meals with friends, and spoiling her grandson. She loved traveling with her family, especially the trips they took to Italy and Hawaii. Above all, Tina was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting her family first.
Tina is survived by her husband of 29 years, Bob; as well as her daughters, Melissa Malick and her spouse, Hunter, Rebecca Pepe and her partner, Lou Guarneri, and Danielle Schwartz and her partner, Micah Collins. Tina is also survived by her grandson, Carter Malick; her brothers, Vito Schiano, Rich Schiano, and his wife, Effie; as well as her niece, Francesca Schiano, and her nephew, Ricky Schiano. Tina will also be remembered by countless friends and colleagues.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 12:00 PM in Saint Elizabeth Seton Church; 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield.
Interment will take place privately.
