Norwalk Police Department Lieutenant Thomas Andrew Roncinske, Jr., 60, of Danbury, died on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Thomas was born in Rochester, NY on April 27, 1964; son of Thomas and Dorothy (Meertink) Roncinske.
A retired lieutenant from the Norwalk Police Department, Thomas was a devoted police officer and a dedicated coach, teacher, husband and friend. Lieutenant Roncinske was a highly decorated officer who served the city of Norwalk for 35 years and retired on March 31. Lieutenant Roncinske held many leadership roles during his notable career with the department.
Lieutenant Roncinske served in the NPD's Patrol Division, Community Services Division, Training Division as an instructor and Field Training Officer, Special Services and Detective Bureau. He served as commander of the First Platoon and commander of the Special Victims Unit and Internal Affairs, and was promoted to detective in 2000, sergeant in 2006 and lieutenant in 2015.
Lieutenant Roncinske was also a member of the Emergency Services Scuba Team for 29 years, where he became commander and a member of the Emergency Services Tactical Team for 17 years.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” (Corsi) Roncinske, and his brother James Roncinske as well as a loving extended family. Thomas was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Dorothy.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will take place privately.
