Thomas William Longmire, (85), of Ridgefield, Connecticut passed away on November 7, 2023 at his home, with his family by his side.
Tom was born on November 3, 1938, to Joseph and Anne Longmire. He grew up in Blakely and Olyphant, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Blakely High School. Tom received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corp program, while also playing football at RPI. He then served three years as an officer in the Navy.
Tom met and married the love of his life, Barbara Brien, on April 11, 1964, and they had two daughters, Becky and Jen. He held executive level positions at Union Carbide, New York, NY; Amoco Corp, Chicago, IL; and later Xerox, Stamford, CT until he retired. Tom continued to do consulting work and mentored many aspiring entrepreneurs at SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives).
Tom and Bobbie have lived in Ridgefield, CT for 51 years and have been active in the town and St. Stephen’s Church, where he served as a Junior Warden from 1982-1984.
Tom was first and foremost a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He was passionate about fitness and remained physically active, golfing, skiing, working out daily, and hiking with his beloved Australian Shepherds until the end of his life.
Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara, his children and their spouses, Becky (and Jeff) of Waterbury Center, VT, and Jen (and Chris) of Wilton, CT, his four grandchildren, Sam, Sage, Cooper and Tucker, his brother, David Longmire, and cousins, Alan Myhal, and Roseanne Fritz, and nieces, Laura Davis and Anne Young, and grand-niece, Olivia. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Anne and Joseph Longmire, his sister, Joanne Grove, and his brother-in-law, William Grove.
A celebration of life service will be held in his honor on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 1:00 PM at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Ridgefield, Connecticut, with a reception immediately following at St. Stephen’s North Hall.
