Thomas Francis Kelley, 94, of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025. He was the loving husband of Sal Girardi.
Thomas was born in Boston, MA on July 29, 1930; a son of the late Clarence and Clara (Gordon) Kelley. He overcame Rheumatic Fever in early childhood being placed in a rest home for a year away from his family and friends.
He pursued the performing arts and graduated from Boston University and initially sought out a singing and acting career. He served in the US Navy and eventually decided that acting was not going to satisfy his ambitions.
Tom eventually became the manager of the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center and was awarded the Big Apple award by mayor Ed Koch and received the key to the city.
He retired from the New York State Theater in 2000 after 30 years of service.
He enjoyed antique shopping and finding one-of-a-kind items at consignment stores. He had a special eye for unique objects and was quite sharp with interior decorating.
Thomas is survived by his husband, Sal as well as his brothers, James Kelley and Charles Joseph Kelley. In addition, Thomas is survived by his nieces and nephews: Patricia Kelley, Stacey Kelley, Ann McCarthy, Paddy Kelley, John Kelley, Sean Kelley, James Kelley Jr., and Tommy Kelley.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will take place privately. Contributions in Thomas’ memory may be made to plant a tree and to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
