M. Susan Morrison, 81, of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025 surrounded by the people she loved most in the world.
Susan was an integral part of a prayer group for more than half a century, a longtime leader of a Bible study, an effective minister with Meals on Wheels, and a witness to God’s love on many Cursillo weekends. But all of these roles can never describe who she was as a person.
Susan lived a beautiful and selfless life for 81 years, guided always by love and quiet strength. She gave of herself endlessly to those she cherished, both family and friends. If you were important to her, you knew it; you felt seen, heard, and deeply loved. She never sought attention or recognition, yet her kindness, steady presence, and warmth reached further than she ever realized. Her strength wasn’t loud or showy; it was steady and fierce, anchored in her deep commitment to her faith and family. Every moment she gave; whether through listening, helping, or simply being there, was a reflection of her heart.
As a grandmother of seven, her joy was boundless. She never missed a moment that mattered. Whether it was a baseball game, a dance recital, or a preschool graduation - no matter how big or small, she was there - always showing up, always loving, always present.
Her humor and strength, helped carry her family through her final months. Though her passing leaves an irreplaceable void, we find comfort in knowing that her love endures, an eternal presence that continues to guide, comfort, and inspire those lucky enough to have been loved by her.
She was the loving wife of the Reverend John E. Morrison III. The devoted mother of John Morrison IV (Debbie) and Heather Ely (Joe) and the spectacular grandmother to Jennifer (Jake), John V, Alyssa (Tim), Chelsea (Mo), Joey, Alex, and Sean.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A funeral service will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Saint Paul's Episcopal Anglican Church; 174 Whisconier Road, Brookfield. Interment will be held privately. Contributions in Mrs. Morrison's memory may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
