Susan C. DeRosa
 1943-2024
Susan C. DeRosa, 80, of Bethel, wife of the late Anthony DeRosa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Danbury Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.
Susan was born in Bronx, NY on June 9, 1943, a daughter of the late Fred and Ann Colnes. Raised in Peekskill, NY, she attended Peekskill schools, Peekskill High School and graduated from the University of Bridgeport with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
She and her husband began their family in Norwalk and later moved to Bethel to settle down in 1968 where she called home for 56 years.
Truest to her heart was family, but a close second was the game of golf. She began playing as a teenager and continued for nearly six decades. She passed her love of the game down to her husband, children and grandchildren and played with them all over the country. Her close friends came together on Tuesdays for the ladies league at Candlewood Valley Country Club. If she wasn’t on the course, she would be caught playing Bridge or Mahjong or showing off her Green Thumb in the garden. She also never missed her daily 3-mile walks and was always keeping track of her step count.
Travelling was another one of Susan’s favorite pastimes. In the early years it was domestic trips with the family to summer vacation spots which expanded to international trips and cruises with her husband and dear friends.
Professionally, Susan started as an educator in Bridgeport as a third-grade teacher. She continued teaching part time in Brookfield while her children were young, making sure to be available for them. In the mid-eighties, Susan dove into a new career as a licensed real-estate broker. Her dedication, professionalism, keen eye and tenacity proved to be significant attributes that lead to a long successful career. She loved working for a few of the local firms and finished her career with William Pitt Sotheby’s.
She is survived by a daughter Lori Amick and her husband Christopher, a son Jeffrey DeRosa and his wife Jill and five grandchildren: Ryan, Ben, Lexi, Miles and Eden.
In addition to her parents and husband, Susan was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy and Wilma.
Susan was a congregant of the United Jewish Center of Danbury.
