It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Joseph Greenberg, on December 22, 2024.
Steven is survived by the love of his life, Lauren, with whom he happily lived for the past twenty years, and their Golden Doodle, Walter.
A true gentleman, Steven had charm, finesse, humor, a smile that lasted for days, and a twinkle that made everyone feel special. He possessed genuine empathy, humanity, a zest for life, and the heart of a lion.
Steven was an integral member of the Danbury community for decades, giving his time, service, and dedication to many organizations and people. He was loved by all who knew him, and even those who only knew of him.
In his capacity as Vice President at Newtown Savings Bank, Steven is considered a legend in the mortgage industry. He always went above and beyond to offer solutions to make lives better – that is just who Steve was. He always had his client’s best interest at heart.
There are so many things Steven will be remembered for: his many anonymous acts of kindness, his joyous spirit, his selfless, huge heart; it is impossible to list them all here. While those of us who are blessed to have known and loved him feel a huge void with his passing, he is a person who has left an indelible legacy, and for that we are eternally grateful.
Steven is predeceased by his father, Norman Greenberg, and in addition to his wife, Lauren, he is survived by his mother Anne, sister Jill Greenberg, and brother-in-law, Jeff Gold.
We are confident that Steve’s beloved Max, Jack Arthur, Sammy, and Theo were waiting for him with open paws.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to a charity of your choice be made in Steven’s memory.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the special staff at Yale New Haven Hospital (you know who you are) for their tremendous kindness, care, and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 2PM to 5PM at Anthony's Lake Club, 10 Christopher Columbus Ave., Danbury.
Let's honor Steve's memory with stories, laughter, and love.
If you have any photos of Steve or would like to share personal stories or memories, please send them to Lauren.Auresto@Gmail.com by January 20th.
In true Steve fashion, feel free to wear a tracksuit as a nod to his unforgettable style. We look forward to celebrating Steve with all who loved him.
