Sophie K. Nimer, 96, of Danbury, wife of the late Samuel “Sy” Nimer, died on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Regional Hospice, Center for Comfort Care and Healing, Danbury.
Mrs. Nimer was born in La Macaza, Quebec, Canada on July 16, 1927, one of thirteen children to Peter and Ava Kushnerewich. She attended schools in Canada and immigrated to the United States in 1955.
A homemaker, Mrs. Nimer enjoyed golf and crocheting and was a member of St. Gregory the Great Church.
She is survived by a son, Robert S. Nimer and his wife Rachel, two daughters Debbie Lilley and her husband Jim and Gale Fernandes and her husband Steven, two sisters, Anne Asmar and Stephanie Tetrault, five grandchildren Shanon, Keith, Jillian, Brandon, and Sam, four great grandchildren Brianna, Jaidin, Cameron, and Derek.
She is also survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In honoring Mrs. Nimer’s wishes, all services will be private for her most immediate family only.
