Sofia Maykowsky Ayash, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, in Danbury, Connecticut, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Augsburg, Germany, to Anton Maicovski and Anastasia Kolosowska, Sofia lived a life defined by determination, accomplishment, and devotion to family. She earned her MBA from the University of Massachusetts and built a successful career in finance and banking, earning respect for her intelligence, professionalism, and strong work ethic. Known for her confidence and candid opinions, Sofia was never hesitant to share her advice.
Sofia was the devoted wife of Wassim Ayash and loving mother of Miguel, Pablo, Omar, Eddie, Charlie, and Jimmy. She was also a cherished mother-in-law to Yesenia, Dinorah, Janett, and Made. She is survived by her siblings Anna, Blay, Fela, Luba, and Marce along with their spouses Susan, Michael (deceased), Bill, and Mike, and was predeceased by her sister Cecilia and brother Pablo.
She found joy in dancing, traveling, movies, and especially food. She loved trying new foods and sharing meals with family and friends.
Sofia embraced life with enthusiasm and took great pride in her grandchildren. She was always there to celebrate their milestones with unwavering support and love. Her strength, resilience, generosity, humor, and devotion to family will be remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Av, Danbury, CT.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 11:30 am in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Wooster Cemetery, 20 Ellsworth Avenue, Danbury CT.
Sofia will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family and friends.
