Rosemarie (Rigano) Canale

Rosemarie (Rigano) Canale, 91, ff Ridgefield, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 while surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Vincent P. Canale for 56 years.

Mrs. Canale was born in Mamaroneck, NY on May 17, 1934; a daughter of the late Paul and Sadie (Bellum) Rigano.

A resident of Ridgefield since 1962, Mrs. Canale held many titles and roles including Parish Administrator at Saint Mary’s Church where she was a devout Catholic. She was involved in many charity programs, including Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Canale also owned and operated Ridgefield Printing for many years.

She was heavily involved in the arts, which was a longtime passion. She directed, acted and produced many off-broadway shows, including her favorite, Jesus Christ Superstar. She was the Director for the Ridgefield Workshop for Performing Arts (now the Ridgefield Theater Barn) as well as running the Ridgefield Summer Theater program along with Evelyn Foley. She also was the founder of Ridgefield Dinner Theatre with John Frey.

In her spare time, Mrs. Canale enjoyed painting, cooking and preparations for the holidays - especially Christmas. Her pride and joy was decorating for the holidays in which she loved to share with her family.

Mrs. Canale is survived by her two sons; Paul Canale as well as Peter Canale and his wife, Suzanne Burrell. In addition, Mrs. Canale is survived by her grandchildren: Samantha Canale, Gina Canale, Jessica Rowe and husband, Rob Rowe; as well as Maxwell Jewett and wife, Emily Jewett. She also is survived by her great grandchildren; Charlie, Nora, Blaire and June.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary’s Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Entombment will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Ridgefield. There will be no calling hours.
