Roseanne Lillian Jansen, 71, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with lung and brain cancer. She was born to Julia and Harry Powell and was raised in the Long Island suburbs of Malverne and Rockville Centre. She is survived by her children: Gary Jansen (Grace, daughter-in-law), Julie Regine (Martin, son-in-law), Suzanne Zoni (David, son-in-law), and Maryanne and Annie Jansen; and by her grandchildren: Edward and Charles Jansen, and David and Christopher Zoni. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Mastropieri, and extended family.
Roseanne led a deeply spiritual life of self-sacrifice, wholly dedicated to caring for others. She offered unwavering support to her children and grandchildren, especially to her youngest daughter, Annie, who was diagnosed at a young age with severe autism.
Over the years, she held numerous jobs, including homemaker, caregiver for a Holocaust survivor and her family; upholsterer; furniture deliverer; and aide to many families in the New York area.
A high-energy woman with a love of coffee and tea, Roseanne cherished the country life and beach time in Westport and spent more than twenty years in Westchester County, where she was surrounded by horses and other animals. She was a fan of classic Disney movies like Snow White and Cinderella, and lesser-known Disney films like Candleshoe and The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band. She was also a lifelong admirer of Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, and Shirley Temple, but above all, she cherished Lucille Ball, laughing whenever she watched her favorite TV show, I Love Lucy.
Roseanne was a deeply private person with an enormous heart. She loved her parents dearly and carried their memory with her every minute of the day. Her daughters Maryanne and Annie were her best friends and she was a champion to her kids and grandkids. She had a profound devotion to Jesus and prayed constantly. Her faith, hope, love, and strength carried her through her life and later her illness, leading her peacefully to her final rest with the Lord.
Roseanne will be deeply missed and always remembered. In accordance with her wishes, services will be held privately in her honor.
