Rosalie Sulli Gelb

Rosalie Sulli Gelb, a longtime resident of Heritage Village in Southbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 20th. She was the beloved wife of the late Emerich Gelb.

Rosalie was born on May 1, 1925, in the Bronx, New York, daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Pellettieri) Sulli. She was raised in Astoria, Queens, and later moved to New Milford, New Jersey, after marrying Emerich.

She enjoyed a fulfilling career, working for Sinclair Oil Company (now part of British Petroleum) for 34 years. Afterward, she joined Roure Bertrand Dupont, a fragrance company in Teaneck, NJ, where she remained until her retirement.

Following the passing of her husband, Rosalie relocated to Heritage Village in 1994, where she quickly became an active and cherished member of the community. She was a passionate participant in the Italian Language Class and the founder and president of the Italian Renaissance Club. She also served as vice president of the Mediterranean Cultural Circle, secretary of the Condo 23 Board, and was a member of the Republican Club and the Camera Club. Beyond Heritage Village, she was involved with the Southbury Senior Center, the Tribury Friends Visitors, and served as a mentor at the Rochambeau School in Southbury.

Rosalie was predeceased by her brothers, Michael and George Sulli; her sister, Anna Menser; and her niece, Carolann Menser.

She is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her nine nieces and nephews, to whom she was devoted.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:30 AM in Saint Elizabeth Seton Church; 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in Saint Raymond's Cemetery; Bronx, NY. There will be no calling hours.
