Robinette Gladys McCarley 80, of Danbury, wife of Edward McCarley departed her earthly body to begin her heavenly existence on Tuesday July 21, 2026. Robinette was born in Charlotte Courthouse, VA on January 31, 1946, the fourth born child to the late Claudie and Dorothy (Logan) Anderson.
She attended Charlotte High School in Virginia before relocating to Stamford, CT, where she graduated from Rippowam High School in 1965.
Robinette built a diverse and fulfilling career across several industries. She was a group leader with Davis & Geck Co, of Danbury, later worked as a Courtroom Clerk for Danbury Superior Court, and then went on to become a Licensed Real Estate Agent with Paul Rullo Real Estate agency in Danbury, and lastly found her calling in healthcare as a Certified Nurse's Aide with Geron Nursing Registry of New Milford, CT, where she compassionately cared for others.
Beyond her professional achievements, she was an active member of The Mount Pleasant AME Zion Church of Danbury, CT, where she faithfully served as an Usher, embodying her commitment to community and faith. She also proudly served as a poll worker during elections, believing in the importance of civic engagement.
Robinette found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Every chance that she had to travel she was in the air, on the road, or cruising the seas.
She was an avid gardener, she enjoyed reading, dancing, and spending time with her family and loved ones. She also enjoyed watching old time Westerns, especially Gunsmoke and Maverick.
In addition to her devoted husband Edward of 37 years, she is survived by a daughter Tonya Kristina Perkins (Fiance, Terrance), Three Sons Michael James Elam (wife, Marcia), Steven Douglas Elam (wife, Jacqueline), and Dennis Raymond Perkins Jr. (wife, Angela); nieces Lisa (Wilson) Grant, Linda Dosha Wilson,
Chantelle Foster, Amy Baker, Lisa Anderson, Monica Anderson, and nephew Paul (Labine) Wilson; God-daughter Kimberly (Lewis) Galva; 11 grandchildren: Michael Elam Jr, Katelyn VanHouten, Dante Vanhouten, Michaela Elam, Mackenzie Elam, Jessica Morin, Shereana Hodge, Myeisha Boyd, Jamar Crawford Jr, Juanita McCarley, and Jordan McCarley; five great-grandchildren a host of nieces nephews cousins and many friends, including her best girlfriends of 50+ years Ludell (Mosley) Smith and Annie Marie Little Harrison.
Robinette also leaves behind her 4 legged canine baby "Flash."
Robinette was predeceased by parents Claudie and Dorothy Anderson; a brother Louis Anderson; two sisters Dorothy Brave and Rachel Anderson; two nieces Tracy Anderson and Carolyn Ann Baker-Cobbs; and stepchildren Margaret McCarley and Nicholas McCarley.
A celebration of Robinette's life will be held on Friday August 7, 2026 with the viewing beginning at 10:00 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am at The Mount Pleasant AME Zion Church, 69 Rowan Street, Danbury. Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
The family will also receive family and friends at Jowdy Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury on Thursday August 6, 2026, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
