Robert "Bob" Torielli, 92, passed away peacefully at Royal Falmouth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on September 14th. He was pre-deceased by his wife Rose earlier this year.
Born in Danbury, CT to John and Mary Torielli, Bob attended Saint Joseph's and Danbury High Schools before joining the Navy in 1950. A veteran of the Korean War, he served aboard the USS Midway for 45 consecutive months as a gunner's mate, touring the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea and the Mediterranean.
Upon his return from the Navy, Bob and Rose were married. He was a technical draftsman for Data Control, after which he and Rose would operate the Old Oak restaurant on Liberty Street for over 30 years before retiring. Bob was also a volunteer fireman for the Independent Hose Company No. 4 for many years.
Bob is pre-deceased by his siblings John (Jack), William (Billy), Annemarie, Margaret (Peggy) and Francis (Frank). He is survived by his five daughters Gina, Donna, Rosemarie, Anita and Anne as well as nine grand and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at St Joseph's Church in Danbury at 10:00AM on October 24th. Burial will be private; there will be no calling hours. Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, Danbury is in care of arrangements.
