Robert Francis McLaughlin

Robert Francis McLaughlin, 87, of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2023. He was the loving husband of Kathleen (Gillen) McLaughlin.

Mr. McLaughlin was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 22, 1936; a son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Mooney) McLaughlin. Mr. McLaughlin was a retired Commercial Property Manager. He served in the United States Marine Corps before his honorable discharge in 1958.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past 8 years, Mr. McLaughlin previously resided in Warwick, NY; Breezy Point, Queens; and Montclair, NJ. In his spare time, Mr. McLaughlin enjoyed surfcasting and deep sea fishing on the Atlantic Ocean as well as boating and sailing. Mr. McLaughlin was a founding member of Hound Dog Enterprises(If you know, you know). He was a true champion to his family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them.

Mr. McLaughlin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathleen, as well as their 5 children: Robert McLaughlin and his wife, Kathleen; Jean Anne Dobrowolski and her husband, John; John McLaughlin and his wife, Maria; Kathleen Timony and her husband, Patrick; and Brendan McLaughlin and his wife, Timothea. Mr. McLaughlin is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Ryan (Ben), Robert (Alanna), Casey (Stephanie), Margaret (Myles), Owen, Nora, Kayla, Clara, William, Evan, Gavin, Kieran, Colin and Conor; 1 great granddaughter, Aspen Lily Jean; and a sister, Peggy Kirchner.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McLaughlin was predeceased by two brothers, Charlie and Billy McLaughlin.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Tributes and reflections of Mr. McLaughlin will be offered at the funeral home at 2:15 PM on Saturday afternoon followed by United States Marine Corps funeral honors. Interment will take place privately.
