Robert Jacques Le Coz a long-time resident of Danbury, Connecticut passed away peacefully on March 26, 2022, at Regional Hospice, Danbury, Connecticut. Born on January 8, 1930, in Paris, France, Robert was the son of Marie Francine Le Parc and Jean Baptist Le Coz.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his older brother Roger. Robert grew up in Paris, France during World War II. He would often share stories about his childhood during the war. In 1951, he graduated from Ecole Centrale d’Electronique, Paris, France, and began his career as an Engineer.
While visiting his brother, he met the love of his life Monique Rabaron and in December 1957 they were married. At the beginning of the 1960s, Robert worked as a sales engineer for Promesure Company, Paris, France. In this position, he began a collaboration with Baird-Atomic, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He would eventually become the representative for Baird Atomic in France promoting their Spectrochemical equipment. This partnership led to Robert moving with his young family to the United States and beginning his career as an Assistant Project Engineer for Baird Atomic, Cambridge, MA. In the following years, Robert would become a United States citizen.
He would continue to work in engineering at numerous companies such as Lowell Technological Institute Research Foundation, GPI, Honeywell Company and Perkin-Elmer Corporation, in the Massachusetts and New York areas throughout the 1960s and 1970s. In the United States, he completed course study in Information Theory at the Lowell Technology Institute. He also attended courses in Economics and Business Administration at Boston College. Cherished family trips included Niagara Falls and Nova Scotia to see the eclipse, etc. He also shared his passion with his children for the sciences and the Arts.
In the late 1970’s he began a successful career as a sales representative for Prudential Insurance Company, Danbury, CT., and worked there until his retirement. In his retirement years, Robert enjoyed visiting his children and grandchildren, trips to Disney World, Las Vegas, California, and Montreal. Toasting the New Year with family was a tradition.
Robert loved the outdoors, he spent time hiking the Appalachian trail, summers camping and was known around town as an avid jogger. Neighbors would often see him on his five-mile run each day. He participated in races with his family such as the New Milford Fair Days Road Race each summer. Robert like to stay fit, and you could often find him exercising and working out at the Danbury War Memorial.
Robert was known for recording, editing, documenting and sharing family milestones and events creating home movies. He put a lot of time and effort into his home movies often working late at night in this home studio. His finished work was usually showcased at family events. He enjoyed listening to classical music, opera and a enjoyed a good wine. He was interested in knowing how things work and would often tinker and fix things.
He was a grandfather who enjoyed making his granddaughters laugh and will be dearly missed. Robert leaves behind his wife of 64 years Monique and their four children: Yannick (Donna) Waterford, NY., Christian (Marie), Essex Junction, VT., Monica, Paris, France, Yolande (Brian Gibson) Sarasota, FL., four grandchildren: Marissa, Caraline, Jacqueline and Nicolette.
Jowdy Kane Funeral Home, Danbury, CT provided funeral services and burial was held at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury, CT.
