.

Robert R. Hall, 77, of Danbury, Connecticut, peacefully passed away at Danbury Hospital on July 18, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Laurie (Greenfield) Hall.

Bob was born on April 12, 1948, in the Bronx, New York. He grew up in the Whitestone neighborhood of Queens, New York. He graduated from Flushing High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from North Texas State University.

He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend to many. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert and Gertrude (Habeck) Hall, and his sister Dorothy. He was the proud father of Elizabeth, Sarah (Corey), Robert James—his angel in heaven, and Katie. His grandchildren (Kayla, Tiana, and Shailyn) and great-grandchildren (Kaia, Kingston, and Jaden) brought joy to his life.

He will be remembered for his deep love for and dedication to his family, including his extended family who thought “Uncle Bob” was the best. He was a loyal friend whose generosity and kindness touched the lives of everyone he met.

Bob had a wonderful life. His curiosity, passion, wisdom, sense of humor, and remarkable storytelling ability were ever present. Bob would connect with people wherever he went whether close to home or during his travels around the world. His first question would always be “where are you from?”

He was passionate about playing baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He also loved football and never missed a North Texas or New York Giants game. He enjoyed reading, learning about history, and researching family genealogy for over 45 years. He was an enthusiastic collector of coins, stamps, and model trains. His travels took him to six continents, and he was a loyal supporter of and frequent visitor to the Bronx Zoo.

Throughout his life, he was actively involved in various community organizations and clubs including serving as President of the Bronx Historical Society and being a member of the Danbury German Cultural Society and Connecticut Genealogical Society. He was also especially honored to be on the Board of Directors of Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.

He had a distinguished career in educational publishing, focusing on sales to schools and libraries at Grolier and later at World Book, where he led large international teams. He loved leading, being part of a team, and both inspiring and being inspired by his colleagues.

He consistently sought out opportunities to encourage and support others, always providing recognition, help, advice, or perspective. Bob’s legacy will continue to inspire all who had the joy of knowing him.

Friends may call at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. with remarks of remembrance commencing at 4:30 p.m. Private burial will take place in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
