Robert “Bob” James Fay, 88, of Danbury, husband of Kathryn “Kathie” (Moore) Fay died on April 1, 2021, at Danbury Hospital. Mr. Fay was born on August 29, 1932, in Flushing, NY. Son of the late James and Julia (Williams) Fay, he spent his childhood growing up on Teller Ave. in the Bronx.
Mr. Fay was a U.S. Marine Corps. veteran, having served during the Korean War. An area resident for the past 56 years since moving from Westchester County, NY. Before he retired, Mr. Fay was the distribution manager at Marcus Dairy in Danbury. In his retirement, he enjoyed driving a school bus for the local area students. Mr. Fay was an avid NY sports fan and a lover of books and movies, but the greatest joy in his life came from his grandchildren. You could often find him sitting sideline at one of their many sports games or meets, in the audience of one of their shows, or enjoying a beach vacation with them.
In addition to his wife of 66 years, Kathie, he is survived by his six sons, Daniel (wife Brenda), Dennis (wife Kathy), Doug (wife Gail), Eric (wife Jill), Craig (wife Carol), and Chris (wife Heidi); a brother, Gerald Fay of Annandale, NJ; a sister, Patricia McCarthy of Mattapoisett, MA; ten grandchildren, Scott Fay, Erin Nicastro, Stacie Buhl, Kenneth Fay, Kevin Fay, Kylie Fay, Brian Fay, Stephen Schillat, Meghan Fay and Emily Fay; as well as seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and stepmother, Helen (Katuna) Fay.
Due to the concerns facing us all at this time regarding social gatherings, services will be held privately for the immediate family. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses, doctors, and aides of Danbury Hospital, whose care and concern for Mr. Fay went above and beyond.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Fay can be made to his favorite charity: Ability Beyond, 4 Berkshire Blvd., Bethel, CT 06801.
