Richard C. Ellrodt, 80, a 50-year resident of South Salem, NY died peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was the loving husband of Linda (Marganella) Ellrodt.
Mr. Ellrodt was born in Mount Vernon, NY on January 25, 1945; a son of the late Louis and Shirley (Neggersmith) Ellrodt and brother to Louis (predeceased). Richard served as a Navy Corpsman during the Vietnam war before marrying his wife Linda and moving to South Salem, NY to raise their family.
As Rick, Richie, Deke, Dad or Poppy, Richard filled many roles. Volunteer coach, member of the Lewisboro Planning Board, helping hand or friendly ear, Richard strived to find a common interest with every person he met and developed lasting friendships with them. Throughout his life he maintained strong friendships with people he met in high school, the service, his career and his many personal activities.
Mr. Ellrodt is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda, and his sons: Rich Ellrodt and his wife, Nicole and Greg Ellrodt and his wife, Amy. Mr. Ellrodt is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Natalie, Charlie, RJ, and Lily as well as the friends he embraced as family: PJ and Karen Rossi and their children, whom he adored Paige, Julia, and Paul. Mr. Ellrodt’s memory will also live on with his nieces, nephews and numerous cousins and extended family along with all the friends he made throughout his lifetime.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment with US Navy funeral honors will follow in South Salem Cemetery.
