Patricia Mary Hilton

Patricia Mary Hilton, 86, of Danbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at Spring Village Assisted Living in Danbury.

Born in Middleton, Lancaster, England, on January 27, 1939, Patricia was the daughter of the late Walter Allen Hilton and Jenny (Dyke) Hilton. She graduated from high school in England and worked as a tax collector for ten years. After visiting friends in Ridgefield, Connecticut, Patricia was so taken with the United States that she made the decision to emigrate permanently in September 1964.

Her Parents joined Pat in 1966, and two years later, her brother Derek followed. They  lived together in Ridgefield, CT, where Derek went on to become the general manager of the Fine Arts Theaters in Westport, Connecticut. Patricia became a U.S. citizen in March 1978.

Patricia spent 34 years working as a bookkeeper and sales associate at Wilson Hardware in Wilton, Connecticut. During that time, she earned a degree from Indiana University as a professional hardware man, offered by the National Retail Hardware Association. She also received a certificate for an advanced course in hardware retailing and a diploma in interior design from the University of Chicago. Outside of work, she was a lifelong reader, crafter, and gardener who loved swimming and spending time outdoors. A devoted animal lover, especially of cats, Patricia supported numerous animal welfare organizations throughout her life.

Patricia was known for her warmth, kindness, and thoughtful nature, and formed lasting friendships throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. She was a close personal friend of Liberace, the pianist, after working for him in the 1960s.

Patricia is survived by her dear friend Grace Hliva and many other cherished friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Derek Walter Hilton, who passed away in 2015 in Luton, Bedfordshire, UK.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Patricia’s friends and neighbors, especially Ramon and Linda LaBoy for their care and support of both Patricia and Grace in recent months.

In accordance with Patricia’s wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes will be returned to her hometown of Middleton, Lancaster, England. Donations in her memory may be made to the Danbury Animal Welfare Society (D.A.W.S.). A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
