Nellie Ferraris of Ridgefield, passed into the loving arms of Christ on February 5, 2021. She was 98 years young.
A native of Cos Cob, CT Nellie Ferraris was born on January 3, 1923, the daughter of Philomena and Pasquale Figliola. She graduated from Greenwich High School. She lived with her husband and children in Stamford for thirty-three years before moving to Ridgefield in 1982. In Stamford, she worked at Dorr-Oliver Corp. with two of her siblings. In Ridgefield, she was very active member of St Mary’s Parish and was involved with the St Mary’s Fairs, helping to run the Italian food booth for years. Until about ten years ago, she also loved attending Founders Hall with her sister to watch movies, do exercise, and attend their special events. As an avid reader, she also appreciated having books delivered to her through the Ridgefield Library.
Always a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, her greatest joy was her family and preparing Italian specialties for all of the holidays, Her generosity extended to anyone she met, sending cards, giving away prepared foods, and sending gifts.
Her husband, John, whom she married in 1945, predeceased her in 2003. Nellie is survived by her son John P. Ferraris (Linda) of Coppell, Texas; two daughters, Lucretia Pannozzo of Ridgefield (Vincent) and Phyllis Ferraris of Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Steve Espley); and three grandchildren, Vincent John Pannozzo, Ethan Ferrari, and Alexandra Ferraris.
