Muriel V. Lombardi
Muriel Veronica Lombardi, 91, of Danbury, wife of the late Carmine Lombardi, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2nd, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Muriel was born on December 14th, 1933, at the Bronx Maternity Hospital in New York, a daughter of the late Everett and Mary Ellen (Murtagh) Dougherty.
She attended Cathedral High School in New York City, where in that time she met her sweetheart at a dance and soon after graduating, married and dedicated her life to being a homemaker and wife, and starting her beloved family.
Since relocating to Connecticut in the late 1950’s, Muriel enjoyed painting, reading, classical music, dancing, gardening, word games, sewing, playing the piano, crocheting, and travel (especially to the ocean).
She had a calm, light-hearted presence, and was devoted to her family and church. Her faith in God carried her through to her final moments, and her joyful demeanor leaves a lasting impression in the hearts of those she loved. A world traveler, Muriel had many interests and involvements, including but not limited to charity work, teaching catechism, attending community classes, celebrating cultural diversity, introducing her family to the arts, nature, and the overall enjoyment of life. She was truly an extraordinary woman.
Muriel is survived by her four children, Maura, Christine, John, and Robert (and his wife Joanna), eight grandchildren Miguel (and his wife Ruth) Hernandez, Amanda Hernandez, Mia (and Casey) Lombardi, Daniel Alvarez, David Alvarez, Abigail Alvarez, Emilia and Julia Lombardi, great grandchildren Alina Carter and Hannah Hernandez, a sister Eileen Hyler, brothers Robert Dougherty (and his wife Ann Marie) and James Dougherty (and his wife Sue) Dougherty and numerous nieces and nephews, including Evelina Johnson and Fred Reitano.
