Muriel Golembeski Obituary

Muriel Edith (Johnson) Golembeski, 66, of New Milford, died peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late Robert S. Golembeski.

Muriel was born in New Milford, CT on August 1, 1957; a daughter of Edith (Chapin) Johnson and the late Raymond Johnson. She grew up in Washington, CT and graduated from Shepaug Valley Regional High School. Muriel later worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and as an associate for Kimberly-Clark Corporation. 

In the 1990’s, Muriel returned to school and earned her certificate in Medical Billing and Coding from Data Institute (now Goodwin College) and worked in an oral surgery office for nearly 15 years.

In her spare time, Muriel spent many years serving as a volunteer EMT (certification obtained in 1978) first serving with Washington Ambulance (first female EMT) then with New Milford Community Ambulance answering many calls for service with her husband Robert. Additionally, many years ago, Muriel served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross in shelter management and CPR instruction.

Muriel was a lifetime member of Salem Covenant Church in Washington, CT.

Muriel is survived by her son, David R. Golembeski of New Milford; her mother, Edith Johnson of Newtown; her sister, Amy Brady of Newtown; as well as her nieces and nephews, Leanne Golembeski of New Milford, and William and Rebekah Brady of Newtown. In addition, Muriel is survived by a large extended family and many cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bethel Health Care and Regional Hospice for their compassionate care of Muriel. 

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM in Salem Covenant Church; 96 Baldwin Hill Road, Washington Depot. Interment will follow in New Milford Center Cemetery; 6 Poplar Street, New Milford.
