Morgan Martin Whitbeck Weber

Morgan M.W. Weber passed away on June 9, 2026, after a decade-long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Born March 12, 1942, to Dr. Morgan J. Weber and Catherine Whitbeck, Morgan grew up on Long Island with his beloved younger brother Matthew, who predeceased him in 1993. Morgan graduated from Manhattan College and St. John’s School of Law, and spent most of his career at Schering-Plough pharmaceuticals, where he rose to become senior director of product liability litigation. 

He met his wife, Barbara Manners, at work. Morgan loved to sail and, after months of lingering conversations at the door of her office, he invited Barbara for a weekend afternoon on the small sailboat that he had just bought. Their love bloomed on the Long Island Sound and endured over 46 years of marriage. They enjoyed theater and traveling together. As their lives intertwined, he made her family his own and doted on his mother-in-law, Naomi Stern. And he supported Barbara in her every endeavor, no matter how far from his own interests (folk concerts) or unusual (nine rescue dogs).

Together they raised their son, David Manners-Weber. Morgan loved fun and play, and being a father gave him the opportunity for rollercoasters and roughhousing, for spinning his son in pots on the kitchen floor and burying him in leaves amidst autumn yard work. Morgan had a sly sense of humor—after his wife forbade him from buying toy guns for their young son, Morgan whittled one out of wood. Morgan was soccer ref; driving coach; mischief maker. In everything, he was unabashed in his love for his son. 

After his retirement, Morgan spent happy years taking classes and playing billiards at Founders Hall in Ridgefield, where other retirees soon learned that, affable and unassuming nature notwithstanding, the man was a pool shark. He loved simple things—Sunday football, and walking the dogs in the woods, and candy bars, and a good nap. Most of all, Morgan loved to read. Whether in his armchair by lamplight or by audiobook on his long commutes to New Jersey, he read voraciously and omnivorously, with a special love for history and biography. 

Morgan was kind and gentle, smart and curious, funny and deep. We will miss him.

A graveside service took place on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 10:30 AM in Mapleshade Cemetery, Ridgefield.
