Miriam A. McGovern (affectionately known as Mimi) passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2026 at the age of 92.
Mimi was born on April 9, 1933 in the Bronx to William and Miriam (Greene) Howley. She married Thomas (Tom) McGovern in St Patrick’s Cathedral on July 16, 1955 and spent 48 wonderful years together before his passing in 2003. Together they raised three daughters.
Mimi worked for IBM for many years, retiring in 1991. Mimi and Tom took full advantage of their retirement and took many trips, traveling the world. The trips continued even after Tom’s passing often with one of her daughters.
Mimi excelled at being a grandmother. Her three granddaughters were the loves of her life. She knew what they were doing at school and at work, always involved in their lives.
Mimi is survived by her three daughters Cecilia, Louise and Pam, her two sons-in-law, Michael Amodio and Eastman McGovern and her three granddaughters, Claire Amodio, Hope and Grace McGovern. She lived a long and wonderful life for which we are all grateful.
