Michael G. Petro 83, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida and Southbury, Connecticut, beloved husband of Suzanne (Fenwick) Petro passed away at Tidewell Hospice, Lakewood Ranch on Thursday July 11, 2024. Born August 13, 1940 in Shelton, Connecticut to the late Michael and Gertrude Petro, Mike was raised in Shelton with his sister Grace and brother Robert. Graduating from Fairfield Prep in 1958 and Fairfield University in 1962, he earned his MBA from UCONN in 1971. Mike proudly served his country with the United States Air Force.
One of his foremost passions was his work in business development for large commercial construction companies. His love of people and enthusiasm for construction led to a fulfilling career.
Mike was especially proud of his work on the F-111 Aircraft and Joint Stars with Norden Systems, his Economic Development work to bring new companies to Shelton and his work to develop Storrs Center at UCONN and Summer House in Stamford, Connecticut.
Mike was an active member of the CT Building Congress, Hartford Construction Institute, Air Force Association, American Legion Post 16, Sarasota Veterans Group, Gladiolus Society and Civil War Round Table. He had a love for travel, especially trips to Florida with his wife Sue and their dog Bo, gardening, winemaking, pitching softball and was a fan of the New York Yankees and UCONN Huskies.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Sue, his son Michael and wife Susannah, step daughter Robin Stasko (Jim), sister Grace Delstritto, his beloved grandchildren, Michael (SJ), Caroline, John, Madeline, and his step grandchildren, Jessica, Donnie, Julianna, Alex, Madison, James, Nicole and niece Caren Pollaccia.
He is also survived by daughter Melanie Petro and predeceased by daughter Pamela Petro Pawlowski and brother Robert Petro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church - 910 Main Street South; Southbury, CT. Interment with US Air Force funeral honors will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Huntington Lawn Cemetery; Shelton, CT. There will be no calling hours.
