Michael A. Mayer

Michael A. Mayer, of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, with his wife and stepdaughter by his side. He was the loving husband of Evelyn (Gollerstepper) Dametta and stepfather to Alyssa Marotta.

Michael was born on October 12, 1955 in White Plains, New York; son of the late William “Bill” Mayer and Barbara Arinow Mayer.  His family owned Mitchell’s Delicatessen-Restaurant in White Plains, New York for many years.  

A resident of Ridgefield since 2001, Michael previously lived in White Plains, and Brewster, New York and Danbury, Connecticut. Michael was a Director of Corporate Catering and Events for many years at Le Pain Quotidien, Café Metro and Cosi, Inc. in New York City and was recently retired. He enjoyed his family home in Peru, VT where he would often enjoy a glass of wine with friends and family while sitting in front of a roaring fire. Michael also greatly enjoyed the music of the Monkees, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Diana Krall among others. He was both the President of the Fox Hill Master Association and Fox Hill Phase II Association. In his spare time, Michael was a wine enthusiast who enjoyed travelling the world.

Michael is survived by his wife of 16 years, Evelyn Dametta; his stepdaughter, Alyssa Marotta and her husband, Nicolas; and his brother Steve Mayer and his wife, Penny.  

Friends will be received on Sunday, November 15, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A graveside funeral service will take place on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Kensico Cemetery; Valhalla, NY. Social distancing and facial coverings are required for those in attendance at the funeral home and cemetery services.
