Michael Comer Obituary

Michael James Comer, age 66 passed away on December 17, 2024 at Danbury hospital after a prolonged hospital stay. He was the son of James Comer and the late Bernadette Comer.

Michael was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in New Fairfield, CT. Michael was one of four siblings proceeded by his sister Patricia Cochran of Texas, (Dr. Ernest Cochran), Mary Saunders of Danbury (Paul Saunders), and Eileen Perkins of New Milford (Troy Perkins). Michael graduated from Henry Abbott Technical School as an electrician. In his later years, Michael worked for over 30 years at The Duracell Company. He worked with very nice co-workers and truly enjoyed their company.

Michael spent many happy years vacationing with his family on Rhode Island, trips to Texas with his cousins, and many visits with his family who reside in Staten Island. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews and his grandniece and nephews. He was such a large presence in all their lives and was always there to support them. Michael especially took wonderful care of his father, James Comer. He was a caregiver in the truest sense, always putting others before himself.

Michael was a proud member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Danbury where he and his father volunteered as ushers for many years. They were both long-term members of the Knights of Columbus, McGivney Council #29, participating in many charitable and social events throughout the years. Michael’s generosity and kindhearted spirit will be truly missed by those who loved him. We will always carry his memory in our hearts and think of him fondly.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Church; 8 Robinson Avenue, Danbury. Interment will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery, Bethel. There will be no calling hours.

Contributions in Michael's memory may be made to the Knights of Columbus McGivney Council #29 - PO Box 23; Danbury, CT 06813, https://www.koc29.org/.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all of the staff at Danbury Hospital who gave Michael such kind and compassionate care during his hospital stay.
