Meveral Rickert (nee Beam), a beloved member of the Ridgefield community, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, at the age of 93. She was born on August 3, 1931, in Louisville, Kentucky, and was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Rickert, and her cherished daughter, Jennifer Rickert.
Meveral was one of seven children, growing up surrounded by love and faith. Her upbringing laid the foundation for her deep devotion, love of music, and commitment to community. She is survived by her sister, Sara Reynolds and her husband Tom, her sister-in-law, Tonie Beam and many nieces and nephews. Her legacy of kindness and faith continues through her six devoted children: Karen and Robert Poole of Alpharetta, GA; Keith and Rose Rickert of Jacksonville, FL; Susan and Ed Flanagan of Southington, CT; Ellen and Richard Adamski of Danbury, CT; Paul and Barbara Rickert of East Greenwich, RI; and Bruce and Pamela Rickert of New Hope, PA. Meveral was also a loving grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to 9 great-grandchildren.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, Mev found great joy in her church communities. Her love of music and devotion to worship were central to her life. She served as a cantor at St. Mary's Church for over 20 years and directed many choirs.
She was a devoted volunteer at Birthright in Danbury, CT for 30 years, offering support to women and children in need.
Throughout her life, Mev had a remarkable talent for making and maintaining friendships across the many places she lived.Friendships she cherished that lasted a lifetime. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She served as a Welcome Wagon ambassador, warmly greeting newcomers to her community. For 15 years, she worked for Dr. Zarkowski and was a welcoming presence in his office.
She also enjoyed playing bridge at Founders Hall and Ridgefield Crossings where she formed many friendships.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her community friends and caregivers at Ridgefield Crossing , Bethel Healthcare and Regional Hospice for their compassionate care.
Meveral Rickert will be remembered for her faith, beautiful voice, and boundless love for family and community. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield.
