Mary Ann Iwinski

Mary Ann Iwinski, 88, of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Walter Iwinski. 

Mary Ann was born on November 11, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY; a daughter of the late Stanley and Stefania (Boratyn) Dziejma. She grew up in East New York, Brooklyn and attended Dominican Commercial High School in Jamaica, Queens. After graduation she worked at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in NYC. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in the evenings.

Mary Ann changed careers in the late 1950’s to raise a family and settled in New Hyde Park, NY. When her children were old enough to attend school, she began working as a housekeeper then as a switchboard operator at Castro Convertibles. Next, she became a librarian at St Hedwig’s School in Floral Park. NY.

Mary Ann’s final career stop was at Leviton Manufacturing Company where she started as the Executive Secretary to the Vice President of the company.  She then transitioned to Information Technology, where she trained all the employees on the newest innovation, email.

After retiring, Mary Ann moved to Ridgefield in the year 2000. There she found joy in cooking, sewing, traveling, hosting family and volunteering at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center.

Mary Ann was a part-time resident of Marco Island, Florida where she enjoyed the warm weather during the winter months. She also acted as a docent at the Marco Island Historical Museum.

However, Mary Ann’s true passion was gardening, especially flowers. She designed, created and tended to gardens at her three children’s homes.

Mary Ann was exceptionally positive and had a can-do attitude always encouraging others as well as herself.  She will be greatly missed.

Mary Ann is survived by her three children: Gregory Iwinski and his wife, Susan; Matthew Iwinski and his wife, Bernice; and Carol Ann Long and her husband, Jeremiah. Mary Ann is also survived by her grandchildren: Justin Iwinski, Julie Ann Iwinski, Stephanie Iwinski, Cassandra Long and her husband, Max Mitchell and Jeremy Long as well as her long-time companion, Michael Milonas. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond Dziejma.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield.
