Mary Elizabeth Viniello

Mary Elizabeth Viniello, 76, of Danbury, longtime resident of Brewster, died peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late John A. Viniello.

Mrs. Viniello was born in Towners, NY on November 27, 1945, a daughter of the late James and Martha (Kelly) Casey. She attended St. Lawrence O’Toole Elementary School and was a graduate of Brewster High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. 

A recent resident of Danbury, Mary was a longtime resident of Brewster. In her early career, she worked for NY State Electric and Gas Company and later in life was the office administrator for St. Lawrence O’Toole School. Mrs. Viniello and her late husband, John, worked many years as the directors of the St. Lawrence O’Toole charity golf outing.

Mary was an avid sports fan, spending many hours watching her beloved Yankees, professional tennis, and most importantly the games of her grandchildren. She was also a long-time member of a local bowling league and a master of the New York Times crossword. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Her home was always open, she hosted countless parties and family holidays, and always had the perfect outfit for any occasion. Her understated elegance was admired by many.

Mary is survived by her children: Mark Viniello and his wife, Tristy, and Stacy McGratty and her husband, Christopher. She is survived by and was a beloved “Mimi” to her 6 grandchildren: Ava, Katie, Abby and Madison Viniello as well as Caitlin and Colin McGratty. Mary is also survived by a sister, Margaret Casey, the brother and wife of her late husband, Mario and Roberta Viniello, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, John, Mrs. Viniello was predeceased by her siblings: James Casey, Jerome Casey, Patricia Skidmore, Joann Marino and Shirley Pigat.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A prayer service will be offered on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Kane Funeral Home; interment will follow in St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery, Brewster.
