Mary Sheila Sjaastad

Mary Sheila Sjaastad, 85, of Danbury, died peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late Mons Sjaastad. 

Mary was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 5, 1939; a daughter of the late Michael and Frances (Wood) Gorevin. 

A resident of Danbury since 1969, Mary was a retired cook and in her spare time enjoyed time spent with family, ceramics and puzzles. She was a parishioner of Saint Peter Church, Danbury.

Mary is survived by her son, Michael Sjaastad as well as her granddaughter, Samantha Keough and her husband, Robert. In addition to her parents, and her husband Mons, Mary was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon.

A prayer service will be offered on Monday, August 25, 2025 at 11:30 AM in Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the prayer service.
