Obituary

Mary Amalia Light (Fanelli), 85, of Brookfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in her home on November 24, 2025. She was born in Italy and came to the United States as a young woman.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Light; her parents, Pasquale and Margherita; her younger brother, Daniel; her brothers-in-law Mike and Antonio; several cousins; and many dear friends.

She is survived by her brothers Tony Fanelli (Linda) and Salvatore Fanelli (Glenna); her sisters, Carmela DiBuono and Antonietta DiBuono; eleven loving nieces and nephews; her God-children, several cousins and  countless friends and neighbors who were touched by her warmth and kindness.

Mary treasured her family and friends and became everyone's favorite aunt, sister, and cousin — the one you could always count on for her eagerness to support and listen, her sincerity, and optimistic outlook.

Having lived in the home she loved for more than 50 years, her door was always open, with her welcoming, generous, and caring heart always  ready.

Having worked at a local manufacturing company for 50 years, Mary finally retired, turning her attention towards one of her pride and joys: gardening and animals. Her beautiful park-like yard flourished with trees, shrubs, flowers, birds, and various pets.

Mary’s zest for fun and love of people shined through at her favorite social pastime, volunteering at the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge #160 in Danbury, CT. She always brought her energy, laughter, and a warm spark people naturally gravitated toward.

Mary’s life was a gift of love, laughter and kindness — a gift that will continue to grow in every heart she touched.

The family is grateful for the warm and loving care Mary received from her wonderful caregivers, A special Thank you to the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association (RVNA).'
