Mary Jaros Obituary

Mary R. Jaros, 84, of Danbury, died peacefully on Sunday, November 13, 2022. She was the loving and beloved wife of Rodney M. Jaros to whom she was married for 60 years.

Mary was born in Waterbury, CT on May 30, 1938, a daughter of the late Thomas and Stephania (Dilion) Raedy and the oldest of five sisters. She attended elementary school in Terryville, CT, St. Anthony High School in Bristol, CT followed by Gwynedd Mercy College where she earned an Associate’s degree in business.

As founder and director for 32 years of the Country Day Nursery School in Chappaqua, NY (where she lived and raised her family), Mary worked on the cutting edge of childcare at a time when that service was in its infancy. Many hundreds of preschoolers benefitted from her loving attention and infectious personality.

Mary loved real estate, particularly the Cape Cod homes in East Orleans, Osterville, and Eastham which she and her family enjoyed over the decades. Mary also had a real passion for interior design and fashion. She was an excellent seamstress and was known on occasion to sew her own outfit to be worn at special events.

Mary is survived by her husband, Rodney, and their three children: Kristin Boylan and her husband, Timothy; Matt Jaros and his wife, Emily Wong; and Mark Jaros. Mrs. Jaros is also survived by four grandchildren: Hannah Boylan, Luke Boylan, Finn Boylan and Tyler Jaros, as well as her sisters, Stephania Dedman and Margaret Butler and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Mary was predeceased by two sisters: Camilla Mafale and Frances Lomonoco.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, CT.
