Marjorie Ann Evaristo, 95, of Nathaniel Witherell, Greenwich CT, passed away peacefully at Greenwich Hospital Hospice on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Marge was born in Stamford, CT on May 27, 1930, to the late George and Bertha (Schede) Butler. Marge was educated in the Stamford school system and was a graduate of Stamford High School class of 1948. She married James J. Bruno, Sr. of Cos Cob, CT. They went on to have three sons. For many years Marge enjoyed working for the Greenwich school system in several different schools in the cafeteria as a pastry cook. She took pleasure in the work and the friends she made in each school.
Before residing in Greenwich, Marge was a long-term resident of Stamford. She also spent some of her retirement years in Florida. Where she started her second career at TJ Maxx. Marge retired at the age of eighty-nine after working for 30 years as a Markdown Associate. She transferred to their Norwalk store when she returned to CT to be closer to family. Working on markdowns at TJ Maxx was a real aid in her favorite hobby, shopping. “Look at this bargain” was a common announcement after work. But more than shopping, Marge loved her family. She was always supportive and generous with her time, energy, and resources. She was an enthusiastic participant in all family activities. Traveling with her sons, even camping in her later years. She made every effort to attend her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s events. Sporting, theater productions, dance recitals, or Girl Scouts events. Marge was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends.
Marge is survived by her two sons; Jim Bruno (Cindy) of Wilmington, NC and Ed Bruno (Barbara) of Lone Tree, CO. Sadly she was predeceased by son; Stephen Bruno and her brother George Butler. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Keith Bruno (Angela), Colleen Plummer (Thomas), Chris Bruno (Mandy), Kate Enthoven (Christiaan) and seven Great grandchildren; John Bruno, Camille and James Plummer, Owen and Keely Bruno, Gerrit and Tessa Enthoven. Marge is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Kenealy and Patricia Whitney. As well as her three nieces: Sharon Rusgaitis, Debra Schneider and Stacey Whitney.
Marge’s family would like to thank the staff at the Nathaniel Witherell Skilled Nursing Home, especially her nurse, Maggie, for their competent and kind care.
