Maria “Conchita” Abreu, 89, of Danbury, died peacefully at Glen Hill Nursing Home on August 16. She was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, on November 7, 1935, the daughter of the late Elias and Juana Angelas Abreu. 

She enjoyed a long, complete, and rich life, which included constant faith in the Lord and helping others in need. She was a kind-hearted and caring person with a circle of family and friends she enjoyed. 

Maria is survived by her five children: Flor Mejia, Amada Sumler and her husband Timothy, Miriam Nunez and her husband Ynerso, Mario Mejia and his wife, Maria Carolina, and Edy Mejia. Her 11 grandchildren; Yowi Severino, Jaison Duran, Mirianny Lanfranchi, Jorisel Severino, Alan Nunez, Oscar Pacheco, Stefanie Nunez, Iscander Mejia, Jose Manuel Severino, Luzelisa Mejia, and Alexander Nunez. Maria is also survived by more than 12 great-grandchildren.

Maria was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Elias, Felipe, Lalito, and Ageda Abreu

A celebration of life will be held on August 19th, 2025, at Iglesia Pentecostal Camino del Reino (39 Rose Street, Danbury, CT), with calling hours from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.

María “Conchita” Abreu, de 89 años, de Danbury, murió pacíficamente en Glen Hill Nursing Home el 16 de agosto. Nació en Santiago, República Dominicana, el 7 de noviembre de 1935, hija de los fallecidos Elías y Juana Ángelas Abreu. 

Disfrutó de una vida larga, plena y plena, que incluyó una fe constante en el Señor y la ayuda a los necesitados. Era una persona bondadosa y cariñosa, con un círculo de familiares y amigos que apreciaba. 

A María le sobreviven sus cinco hijos: Flor Mejía, Amada Sumler y su esposo Timothy, Miriam Núñez y su esposo Ynerso, Mario Mejía y su esposa, María Carolina, y Edy Mejía. Sus 11 nietos: Yowi Severino, Jaison Durán, Mirianny Lanfranchi, Jorisel Severino, Alan Núñez, Oscar Pacheco, Stefanie Núñez, Iscander Mejía, José Manuel Severino, Luzelisa Mejía y Alexander Núñez. A María también le sobreviven más de 12 bisnietos.

A María le precedieron en la muerte sus hermanos y hermanas, Elías, Felipe, Lalito y Ageda Abreu.

Se llevará a cabo una celebración de vida el 19 de agosto de 2025, en la Iglesia Pentecostal Camino del Reino (39 Rose Street, Danbury, CT), con horario de velatorio de 3:00 a 6:00 p.m.
