Margaret Anthony-Fagan Obituary

 

Margaret “Peg” Anthony-Fagan, 93, of Watertown, longtime resident of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

Margaret was born on February 1, 1929, in New York City, a daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Clarity) Engelke.

As a resident of Ridgefield from 1956 to 2011, Margaret worked as a Library Technology Assistant in the Ridgefield Public Schools as was also employed by Boehringer Ingelheim. She was a member of Founders Hall and Friends of the Ridgefield Library.

Margaret was a faithful parishioner of Saint Mary’s Church and was a member of the church Widows and Widowers Group.

Margaret is survived by her children: William Anthony and his wife, Cheryl; Catherine Luciano, Patricia Grabiec, Diane Taylor and her husband, Jonathan and Irene Kish and her husband, Louis, with whom she made her home for the last 11 years, her step children Mary Fagan and her wife Sharon, Peter Fagan, Janice Smollen and Christine Grendinen and her husband Val. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her first husband, William Anthony; her second husband, Peter Fagan; her daughter, Margaret Hultberg; her grandson John Luciano; her granddaughter PJ Grabiec; her son-in law, Joseph Grabiec; her step son-in law Cary Smollen; and her brothers, Robert and Richard Engelke.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 20, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary’s Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Ridgefield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Margaret’s memory may be made to Visiting Nurses and Hospice of Litchfield County - 32 Union Street; Winsted, CT 06098.  The family would like to thank the Visiting Nurses of Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to our mother.
