Madeline “Mal” (Nimer) Jowdy, 98, of Danbury, wife of late Raymond P. Jowdy, died on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Spring Village of Danbury.
Madeline was born in Reidsville, North Carolina on March 8,1927, a daughter to Julia (Nasser) and George G. Nimer, Sr.
She moved with her family from North Carolina to Connecticut as a young child, first settling in Georgetown and later Danbury. Madeline attended local schools and was a graduate of Danbury High School with the Class of 1944.She enjoyed tennis, golf and bowling. She was a member of the Wamego Ladies Golf Organization and the Ladies Club at Richter Park. She was a member of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury and a member of its Ladies Guild.
Madeline is survived by her four children, Bobbie Chapman and her husband Ron, Rick Jowdy and his wife Suzy, Ron Jowdy and his wife Karen, Sandy Harriman and the late Bob Harriman, a sister Yvonne Lefebvre, brother-in-law Ted Haddad Sr.,12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband Raymond, son in law Bob, great grandson Tyler Cole, two sisters Helen Jowdy and Jean Haddad and four brothers George G. Nimer, Jr., Samuel Nimer, James Nimer and Fred Nimer.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 10:30 AM in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends will be received at St. Anthony Church on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
