Luigia (Gina) Parisi, 88, beloved wife, mother, Nonna and Nonna Grande of Danbury, CT, entered eternal peace in heaven on August 22, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. Gina was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and especially loved her role as Nonna. She was a superb cook often creating delicious dinners without any recipes. Holiday dinners were superb commemorating the Italian customs she instilled in her children. Everyone who came to her home always left as a welcomed guest and become indoctrinated as part of her extended family. Also an avid gardener, she could grow hearty vegetables in rocks and bring back to life the most wilted plants. Her hands were rarely still as she was also an accomplished seamstress making dresses, shirts, suits and alterations no matter how intricate for all family and friends.
Born in the Roman suburb of Velletri Italy to the late Antonio and Letizia, Gina married her adoring husband Giuseppe in 1957 after a 4 year courtship and they immigrated to the US in 1966 with their two young children. In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is the loving and devoted mother of Luciana (Richard) Targett, Antonio, Claudia (Eric) Vignola and Cynthia (Christopher) Robbins. She is also survived by brother Domenico (Linda), grandchildren Monica (Jason), Jessica (James), Victoria, Justin, Connor, Wesley, Madison and great-granddaughter Riley as well as numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces/nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Maria Grazia of Rome, brother Luciano of Rome, bother Franco (Rina) of Sardinia and sister Enia of Ansonia CT.
Gina worked numerous culinary jobs most notably at the Danbury Drive-In, at the Barden and Amphenol cafeterias and Sbarro’s. Always the one to improve on taste, her employers never knew she doctored their dishes to make them even tastier and why the customers always came back for more.
Due to the Covid 19 guidelines, funeral services will be private. Interment will take place on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury at 11:15 AM. Social distancing and facial coverings are required. Live streaming information will be available at www.jowdykanefuneralhome.com.
