Louis John Mezzo, 69, of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 21, 2021. He was the loving husband of Marilyn (Guarino) Mezzo, and beloved father to John Mezzo and Aimee Tucci.
Mr. Mezzo was born on January 1, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY; a son of the late Alexander and Mary (Guidone) Mezzo.
Mr. Mezzo received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Brooklyn College and continued his education graduating Cum Laude with his MBA in Taxation at Pace University. He began his lifelong career in Accounting at Scudder, Stevens & Clark where he met his future wife, Marilyn. He then continued his career and became Partner at Grant Thornton and later International Tax Partner at Ernst and Young. He ended his career at Platform Specialty Products Corporation as Tax Director. Mr. Mezzo was a resident of Ridgefield for the past 7 years since relocating from South Salem, NY.
Mr. Mezzo enjoyed golf, reading, skiing, traveling, dancing the Lindy with Marilyn, his wine collection and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was patient, humble, hard working and devoted to his family. He also enjoyed making his own gnocchi and ravioli and was a dedicated fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Mr. Mezzo was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church of Ridgefield, CT and a member at Salem Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn, and their two children; John Mezzo and his wife, Tenesha and Aimee Tucci and her husband, Tommy. Mr. Mezzo is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Enzo and Luca Mezzo and Sofia, Scarlett and Michael Tucci. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Paul Mezzo and his wife, Rosemarie and his sisters, Roseann Minieri and her husband, Carmine and Susan Chipman and her husband, Robert.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 1:30 PM at St. Elizabeth Seton Church; 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield. Facial coverings are required for attendance at the visitation and funeral mass.
