Leida Esther Cora, 83, of Danbury, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
Leida was born in Puerto Rico on July 13, 1941; a daughter of the late Jose and America (Serrano) Cora. She left Puerto Rico to provide a better life for her family; first settling in New York and later Connecticut.
A longtime resident of Danbury, Leida attended Saint Peter Church. She loved music and found solace and inspiration while listening to her favorite artists. She was a hard worker, who would do anything for her family and she will be remembered for being a good person with a big heart that always wanted to help others.
Leida is survived by her children: Leyda Cruz (Adriana), Esther Cruz and Barbara Cruz (Juan Rosado); her grandchildren: Raul Cruz Jr., Yanelie Mejas, Jeremiah Rosado and Steven Garcia Jr., as well as her daughter in law, Maria Robles.
Leida was predeceased by her husband, Victor as well as her sons, Victor Jr. and Raul Cruz and her son in law, Steven Garcia.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. A prayer service will be offered in the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon at 12:00 PM and interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery; 20 Ellsworth Avenue, Danbury.
Contributions in Leida's memory may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital - a charity that was very important to her.
