Kenneth Clarence Reed, Jr.

Kenneth Clarence Reed, Jr., 91, passed away on August 23, 2024, at his home after years of health challenges. He was a long-time Ridgefield, CT resident having built his home there in 1964.

Ken leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years, Gloria Summa Reed. Together they had three children, predeceased son Kenneth C. Reed III (Ruth) of Alpharetta, GA, and daughters Deborah Ann Pizzo (Charles) of Brookfield, CT and Janice Lynn Heizler (Mark) of Lawrenceville, GA. Ken proudly leaves a legacy of six wonderful grandchildren, Ellie and Anna Reed, Nicholas and Monica Pizzo, and Steven and Kevin Heizler. Ken was born in Stamford, CT in May 1933 to Kenneth and Helen Reed and was raised with his brother Donald (predeceased) and his sister Judy Britton (Ted) of Carson City, Nevada.

Ken was a United States Army Veteran having served his country during the Korean War. He was also honored to be a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Ken descended from many patriotic forefathers dating back to 1635 in Connecticut.

Ken was a career diesel mechanic having worked for Stamford Motors and Pamby Motors. Ken loved traveling with his wife, boating on Candlewood Lake, fishing, making homemade pasta sauce & meatballs on Sundays, splitting enormous amounts of wood for his wood stove, playing basketball and bocce ball at The Founders Hall Senior Center, working out at Club 24 in Ridgefield, and planting a bountiful garden every year. He passionately cheered on his children and his favorite sports teams, the NY Giants and Yankees. Ken was a kind, loving, faithful, funny, and hard-working man who was devoted to his wife, children, home and community. He was always ready with a smile, a joke, a cigar smoke and an ice cold beer. He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Seton Church; 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield. Interment with US Army funeral honors will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery; 110 North Street, Ridgefield.
