Kay Ullman Obituary

Kay Spiegel Ullman, beloved mother, wife, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. She was 75 years old.

Kay was born in Akron, Ohio on April 30, 1950 to John and Rosalie Spiegel. A true child of the 60s, she was deeply influenced by the social movements, art and culture of that time. Kay studied theatre, first at University of Akron and later at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City. She was a gifted actress and performer.

In the early 1970s, Kay moved to New York City where she lived for nearly 20 years. She had a colorful life there working in television and advertising. It was in New York that she met her husband, Carl, whom she married in 1987. New York City was a perfect home for a person like Kay, who reveled in its rich diversity and endless opportunities for learning. Kay and Carl later moved to Ridgefield, CT, where they became enthusiastic members of the community, particularly at Jesse Lee Memorial UMC.

Kay lived out loud. She was an explosion of fun, laughter, kindness, and love. With a heart as tender as it was big, Kay had a keen awareness of the person in the room who needed extra care. She was an irreplaceable gift to all who knew her, a fact that brings joy even as we mourn her now.

Kay is survived by her daughter Chelsea (Morgan Cross), two stepdaughters, Lara (Chas Servotke), and Erika, three grandchildren, Zack, Serenity, and Orson, many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and her loyal dog, Bosco. Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Rosie and John, and her beloved husband Carl.

A Memorial Service in Celebration of Kay's Life will take place on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church; 207 Main Street, Ridgefield. Interment will be held privately; there will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made online to Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, a community Kay loved and that loved her back, https://jesseleechurch.com/give/.

Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield is in care of arrangements.
