Kathleen was born in the Bronx, NY on January 25, 1937; a daughter of the late Andrew and Ann (Montgomery) Hunt. Kathleen’s earliest memories were filled with family: her sisters and brother, the joy of delicious home-cooked meals, and endless fun. She fondly recalled playing in the neighborhood, visiting the local candy store, entire afternoons at the movie theater, and laughter with her best friends.
Kathleen married James Kiernan and together they raised their three children, eventually settling in Old Bridge, NJ. She was a devoted mother who took great pride in caring for her family. Whether it was crafting Halloween costumes, preparing dinner each night, or decorating for every holiday, Kathleen created beautiful memories and traditions.
As a devout Irish Catholic, she had a deep interest in her Catholic faith, which as a cornerstone of her life. A trip of a lifetime for Kathleen was her visit to Ireland, particularly the town of Quilty, where her mother grew up, which held a special place in her heart. Later, her children and grandchildren would follow in her footsteps visiting the same places.
Later in life, Kathleen moved to Connecticut to be closer to her family, especially her grandchildren. Once again, she instilled the importance of family and tradition, passing down her love, values, and dedication, which will leave an enduring legacy of love and warmth. Kathleen had a great sense of humor, always spoke her mind, and was known for her deep reflective nature, preferring meaningful conversations over idle chatter. She was the heart of the home with a love of her Irish heritage, her Catholic faith, movies, music, flowers, and decorating. Recently, she discovered a new passion for art, which brought her great joy.
