Joyce A. Bennett

Joyce A. Bennett, 76, of Danbury, longtime resident of New Milford, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late Calvin G. Bennett.

Joyce was born in Bridgeport, CT on November 9, 1947; a daughter of the late Martin and Anna (Carlson) Nelson.

A longtime resident of New Milford, Joyce was a grocery and retail manager for several Danbury-Wilton area grocery stores. In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed playing bingo, bowling and trips to Mohegan Sun. 

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Maggie Mae Bennett and her fiancé, Eli Behlman, her life partner, Ozzie Strano, and her brother, Victor Nelson and his wife, Beth. Joyce is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Joyce was predeceased by her brothers: Martin, Clifford, Roy, and Leonard Nelson and her sister, Ingeborg Victoria Stachelczyk.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. A prayer service will be offered at 7:30 PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. A graveside funeral service and interment will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Pine Grove Cemetery; 857 South Main Street, Middletown.
