John Simpson Obituary

John G. Simpson, 55, of Redding, loving husband of Jennifer (Schumaker) Simpson and devoted father of Tessa Simpson passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

John was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 8, 1965 a son of the late Sharon (Haskin) and John E. Simpson. He moved to Ridgefield, Connecticut as a young child and graduated in 1984 from Ridgefield High School. In 1988, John earned a bachelor’s degree from Bryant College where he was a member of Phi Epsilon Pi.

A resident of Redding since 2007, John was a financial advisor and Vice President, Investments at Raymond James of Westport. In 1989, he joined his father at A.G. Edwards, where he spent 18 years building his career as a financial advisor. John’s passions included music and martial arts. An instructor at Zen Budokai East, he earned his 5th degree black belt in Jujitsu. Most recently he practiced Krav Maga and the SPEAR self-defense system. He studied at the Do Ngak Kunphen Ling Tibetan Buddhist Center in Redding, where he had served as a member of the Board of Directors.

John is survived by his wife of 14 years, Jennifer and their daughter, Tessa as well as his father, John E. Simpson and his stepmother, Sandra Simpson. John is also survived by his brother, Mark A. Simpson; his stepbrothers, Kevin and Jeffrey Cowser and his niece and nephews, Ross Simpson and his wife, Veronica, Shelby Simpson and Jackson Simpson.

John was predeceased by his mother, Sharon and his brother, Jeffrey Simpson.

Friends will be received at a Walk Through Visitation on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A Private Funeral Service will take place on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
